In a recent enforcement initiative, Dubai Police have imposed fines of up to Dh5,000 on jet ski owners for various violations, registering 160 infractions in the past two months alone. Additionally, the police have recorded 52 offences involving other maritime vessels.
The range of violations includes:
- Operating with Expired Licenses: Dh1,000 fine
- Entering Prohibited Areas: Dh5,000 fine
- Failing to Operate Within Designated Times: Dh2,000 fine
- Not Wearing Life Jackets: Dh3,000 fine
- Underage Operation: Specific fines apply
- Overloading Vessels: Penalties apply
Brigadier Dr. Hassan Suhail, Director of the Port Police Station, detailed that these violations have been observed across various beach areas in Dubai. He emphasized the critical nature of adhering to regulations to ensure safety and compliance, particularly highlighting the severe penalties for operating jet skis in restricted zones.
Brig. Suhail underscored the importance of not overloading watercraft to maintain user safety and stressed the necessity of wearing appropriate safety equipment. These measures aim to enhance maritime safety and ensure a secure environment for all beachgoers and watercraft users.
